Rather than spending another winter floating around the chilly, rainy Pacific Northwest aboard our self-built trimaran, “Rikki-tikki-tavi”, we decided to do something different. Along with friends from “Talisman”, Dean and Diane, we took a tandem road trip to the deserts of the American Southwest! Our two cars were packed tightly with tents, cooking stoves, sleeping bags, ice chests full of food, clothing for both warm weather and cold, travel guides and maps, cameras and computers, and all the miscellaneous necessities for camping.

Our 28-day journey took us to some very fascinating and picturesque areas in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.
