The hard top for the forward part of the cockpit will be built the same way as the spray hood. I am setting up the form and shaping it. The design is a bit of a pickle to work out. Questions such as, "Should the forward edge curve up and down as well as front to back and by how much?", run through my head. Working out the mechanics of building is easy compared to working out the design.

It is good that I started with the smaller spray hood as I learned a lot about working with this foam, Phase Two epoxy and 'glass. I am very glad I didn't use this stuff for the entire boat! The Constant Camber® method has a lot going for it!

The tape ready to glue down along the edges...
The edges will be solid 'glass for support and rigidity. We will be attaching a canvas dodger with forward-looking windows and side curtains.

Upside-down, The heavy mat 'glass ready to lay out.

Here is the dodger mocked up in place on the boat. We are refining the height and location by eye. As soon as we get it looking about right, I'll take it down and set it aside to finish getting ready for the big launch next month. The hardtop is not a necessary item to have finished and there are more critical items left to complete.
